How To Get Your Groom Planning

Most likely your groom has not been dreaming about his wedding day since he was a little boy, but don't underestimate his willingness to get involved in the wedding planning process. Especially when you're engaged to the type of guy that enjoys throwing parties and likes to make things happen on a budget.

One tip I have is to get him involved early on in the process. While you're knee deep in issues of Inside Weddings and browsing through all of the great bridal blogs, get him subscribed to a few blogs of his own. The blogger groom is definitely a rarer breed than the blogger bride, but I assure you they do exist! I recently have come across some great reads with just the right amount of testosterone to make wedding planning cool and I highly recommend The Man Registry, The Plunge, Temple of the Groom, The Groom Says and Ben The Groom.

The flower plans for your wedding might not be an initial area of interest for your fiancé. He's most likely going to be more concerned with music, honeymoon plans, food, transportation and stocking the bar. But, there are big advantages in having him at some of the meetings with your florist. Especially the sample meeting, where he can see the end result, have some input on the final design of the table centerpiece and really feel like he was a part of the total look coming together.  Plus, your wedding day is just one day, but you'll be celebrating Valentine's Day, birthdays and anniversaries for years to come. Having him get an education in flowers and learn about your floral taste during the planning ensures that when those special occasions roll around every year you'll be the envy of all your girlfriends!
