Fashion Week recently concluded in New York, so the timing is perfect to discuss how fashion trends dictate wedding décor trends. Walk into any clothing store, or boutique and you notice immediately which colors are hot that season. Last year we saw gorgeous blues from aqua to cobalt, which of course translated into some pretty amazing wedding color combinations, my favorite being turquoise and red! This fall we are seeing vibrant jewel tones such as magenta and amethyst tones.
As a florist, I am very excited by the trend because there are so many gorgeous varieties of purple flowers to have fun with such as purple hydrangea, tulips, lisianthus, orchids, dahlias and lilac. The many shades of purple mean there will be something for every taste. Deep plum tones provide a rich, backdrop that you can use to pop colors like orange and chartreuse for a bold statement, or if you are aiming for a more classic décor you can use a light lilac color complimented by soft blush tone.
Because there are so many variations of purple make sure to work with your florist to ensure that the shade of purple you choose perfectly compliments you, your décor and your wedding party. Purple may be hot but your florist knows exactly how to make you the center of attention!
