The world of fashion reveres Alexander McQueen and Coco Chanel as icons – a fact Jordan Payne of Jordan Payne Events knows all too well. So when she was searching for inspiration to design her next styled wedding shoot, the answer came easily. Since McQueen is known for adding traditionally unorthodox, dark touches to his work, “this tabletop was inspired by the avant ambience of Alexander McQueen and this was captured using the black driftwood and black butterflies,” notes Jordan. “A somewhat dark, but glamorous, feel.” Contrastingly, Chanel embodies the decadence and grace of womanhood, prompting Jordan to accent her design with a watercolor theme.

Set up at The Ritz-Carlton in Dallas, the shoot featured a palatial table display bedecked with varying hues of blush, coral, and fuchsia in the towering rose centerpieces and the brilliant floral-print table linens by Nüage Designs. Alabaster and gold china plates from Consilium Lifestyle Collections topped the table accompanied by glistening glass goblets – reminiscent of royalty – with intricate gilt encircling the rim.

Mirrored stands held up immense clusters of luscious blooms cascading over one side with gold leaves and posies winding down a spiraling branch contrasted by dangling obsidian jewels and butterflies. “The dramatic and colorful combination of this tabletop is definitely a great way to show how these two aesthetics can work together,” she says.

Adorned with the coordinating design, the shoot also featured a three-tiered confection with a whimsical perennial style and opaque McQueen components. The complex charcoal embroidery that lined the hem of the chair covers echoed McQueen’s signature concept. Adding to the air of feminine elegance, the tablescape incorporated elements associated with Chanel, including its iconic emblem and perfume.

Scattered about the scene were artfully drawn menus for the fête matching the lively pattern of the table fabric expertly. Jordan was also sure to include Chanel fashion prints and gold-dipped wood accoutrements. Says Jordan of the motif, “In addition to the McQueen ambience, we incorporated the hot trend of watercolor giving us a bright balance to the dark avant side.” The atmosphere this vision creates is sure to attract a bride who desires a perfect mix of delicate charm and bold tones.
