Traditional Hindu Ceremony

The traditional Hindu ceremony consisted of many steps, including the Vivaha-homa. For this ritual, a sacred fire is lit and mantras are recited by the priest in Sanskrit. While prayers are verbalized, items are offered to the fire while “Id na mama” (meaning "It is not for me") is repeated, emphasizing the virtue of selflessness required in marriage.
