At long last, Chance The Rapper (full name Chancelor Jonathan Bennett) has married his love Kirsten Corley. They had previously tied the knot in a civil service back in their hometown of Chicago, but this past weekend they held an extravagant celebration where they exchanged vows in front of their friends and family. Both services occurred less than a year into their engagement, as Chance proposed on the Fourth of July last summer.

Only a few days before the event, Chance posted a Twitter thread to share the touching story of when he met his wife when he was only nine years old! He went with his mom to an office party where a trio of young girls performed a dance and lip-sync to Destiny’s Child’s hit song “Independent Women, Pt. I” from the Charlie’s Angels soundtrack. He admits that he couldn’t stop looking at “the prettiest girl I [had] ever seen in my almost-a-decade of life on earth.” Although his father tried to encourage him to show off his own dancing skills, young Chance was not just too nervous and didn’t want to steal anyone’s moment, but he already felt he was going to marry that girl. “And I ain’t wanna jump the gun,” he jokes. It looks like his instincts were right!

The lovebirds’ romantic ceremony was held at The Resort at Pelican Hill in Orange County, California – a popular location for many couples featured in Inside Weddings, including 2017 World Series MVP George Springer III. Several of the photos Chance shared with fans include the picturesque rotunda, which the couple adorned with cream drapery, overlooking the Pacific Ocean. The Grammy-winning rapper wore a white tuxedo jacket with black pants, and the bride was resplendent in a strapless ball gown with a sweetheart neckline, corset bodice, floral appliqués, and a tulle skirt with petticoat-inspired details. Her classic cathedral veil was placed above her loose, low updo, and she carried a bouquet of ivory blossoms.

Though we only have a small look at the ballroom reception, it seems the classic “white wedding” aesthetic continued, as we can see a glimpse of a stunning floral chandelier paired with taupe drapery and beautiful centerpieces. Naturally, the newlyweds’ three-year-old daughter Kensli was also a part of the festivities, and it looks like she may have even joined her parents for their first dance.

Given Chance The Rapper’s place in the hip-hop community, it is no surprise that his wedding celebration was a star-studded affair. Kanye West has always been a mentor to the young rapper, so it’s fitting that he and his wife Kim Kardashian were in attendance. Iconic and influential stand-up comedian Dave Chapelle was also among the celebrity guests. They were both in a photo Chance shared of the men he considers his mentors, who also included gospel singer Kirk Franklin and of course, Ken Bennett, the father of the groom.
