Winning the World Series is something baseball players spend their lives dreaming about, and the championship parade is an opportunity to relish that success and share with the fans. Therefore, it would take something pretty major to miss out on the World Series parade, especially if it was your first time. For Justin Verlander, marrying supermodel Kate Upton was more than worth missing the milestone.
The pair, who went public with their engagement when Kate showed off her stunning engagement ring at the 2016 Met Gala, likely scheduled their wedding when Justin was still pitching for the Detroit Tigers. After he was traded to the Houston Astros, a playoff run was almost a certainty and Kate supported him every step of the way, cheering from the stands. Reports swirled that the couple would marry in Tuscany, Italy the weekend following the Astros decisive win on November 1st, and those reports turned out to be correct! The supermodel and star pitcher jetted off to celebrate their nuptials at a beautiful Old-World resort in Italy.
Though she is best known as a swimsuit model, Kate embraced a classic bridal look, donning an elegant lace gown with long sleeves and an A-line skirt. Her shoulder-length blonde hair was worn with a veil and soft, romantic waves parted to the side. Her new husband’s suit featured subtle pinstripe detailing for a polished look.
Eagle-eyed fans not distracted by the bride’s beauty may have noticed the unique design of the bouquet. The earth tones were perfect for fall nuptials and tall sprigs of greenery added a twist to current trends. From the glance we have, it does not appear there are many flowers in the arrangement. In interviews during the couple's engagement, Kate noted that Justin suffers from allergies, though she still wanted an abundance of blossoms. Perhaps the verdant bouquet was a way to make things a little more comfortable for the groom.
