Inspired by the opulence of Marie Antoinette and Versailles, Jean-Ralph Thurin's fall 2016 collection utilizes lush detailing and dramatic volume to recall the palace's glamour and elegance. The chapel and manicured gardens inspired the embroidery and beading that adorns the bodices and skirts in regal designs. Exaggerated silhouettes call to mind the luxurious excess of Versailles.

Modern shapes bring 18th-century inspiration to contemporary times. A bias-cut gown is topped with a flounce detail around the neckline and a beaded bodice. A strapless crepe gown is paired with a matching cape trimmed with a faux fur collar. Four tiers of tulle add unexpected volume to a ball gown, while a mesh column gown features an oversized bow on the back. Of course, the royal-inspired collection wouldn't be complete without gold details, so a striking trumpet gown with a halter neck is available in a rich metallic gold, and a V-neck ball gown is embroidered with golden medallions.
