Gifting your bridesmaids silk robes, especially in a floral pattern, has become one of the biggest wedding trends in recent years. Scrolling through Pinterest is a guarantee to see dozens of photos of girls smiling in a hotel room, clad in knee-length robes. While we certainly agree that these pictures are darling, we also can’t help but love when brides think outside of the box when gifting getting-ready attire.

A nice set of monogrammed pajamas makes for just as cute of a photo and is more likely to be worn again by the bridesmaids, which means the PJs come across as more genuine of a gift than robes might. After all, a thank-you present is supposed to be for your bridesmaid, not for the wedding. We’ve seen brides provide simple shift dresses for destination nuptials, which also could make great swimsuit cover-ups for years to come. Button-ups or flannel shirts are modest, chic, and just as useful as robes are to avoid messing up hair. If you’ve known your bridal party since school days, a throwback velour sweat suit will have you all reminiscing while you get your makeup done. It’s an especially fun gift if you caught Jennifer Lopez’s Las Vegas residency for your bachelorette party!

Below are a few of our favorite examples for alternative getting-ready attire, all from real weddings. Click each picture to find out what the ladies wore for the ceremony, and check out our beauty gallery for more getting-ready inspiration!
