One of the biggest trends to hit the wedding world in recent years is mismatched bridesmaid dresses. Gone are the days when your favorite ladies would be styled exactly the same way, despite their skin tones and body types. Though it can be a little trickier to make everyone look cohesive, it’s often worth the extra effort to help your bridesmaids be happier with their choice of gown.

Most women worry about being thought of as a “bridezilla” when planning their wedding, and allowing bridesmaids to pick their own ensembles can help to assuage that worry. However, a lot of brides are afraid to sacrifice the vision of their special day, even if they want to be accommodating to their friends and family. Since even couples hosting large weddings may not be covering the purchase of bridesmaid dresses, the plan for the outfits may not match up with the finances or priorities of the attendants. For these women, the newly launched shop “The Mismatched ‘Maid” by thredUP could be a great option. The online consignment shop did a survey of their customers and found over 85% of the respondents said they never re-wear their bridesmaids dresses, and over 50% said the gowns are “too expensive.” Second-hand frocks from top brands will allow your grad student bridesmaid to fit right in with your maid of honor with a trust fund.

The Mismatched ‘Maid has 30 curations based on popular bridesmaid looks, such as blush, navy blue, floral, polka dot, and ruffles. See below for mock-up examples, as well as options in top shades from other retailers for your bridesmaids to choose from.
