13 Songs to Play at Dinner During Your Wedding Reception

These sweet tunes will set the romantic tone for the evening.

Everyone has their favorite dance songs, and many brides imagine certain melodies for when they walk down the aisle. However, music is a factor throughout the wedding. While you’d hope that your guests would catch up and get to know each other at their tables during the start of the reception, it’s always helpful to have some background noise in social situations. The right song can even be a conversation starter!

Choosing what to play in the background during your reception dinner can be tricky. You’ll want songs about romantic love to fit with the theme, while avoiding classic breakup numbers. The tunes shouldn’t be too slow, at risk of zapping people’s energy, but you also don’t want anything that will make your guests itchy to start dancing. As much as you may want that spirit later in the evening, it’s never good for your attendees to feel antsy. Below are our suggestions for songs that we think will help set the tone during the dinner portion of your wedding reception.

"Everything" - Michael Bublé

"Death of a Bachelor" - Panic! at the Disco

"Suddenly" - Billy Ocean

"Time After Time" - Cyndi Lauper

"Just the Way You Are" - Billy Joel

"Sandcastles" - Beyoncé

"In Your Eyes" - Peter Gabriel

"I'll Be" - Edwin McCain

"1, 2, 3, 4" - Plain White T's

"Like Real People Do" - Hozier

"My Cherie Amour" - Stevie Wonder

"God Only Knows" - The Beach Boys

"Moon River" - Frank Ocean
