Make your food a crowd-pleaser!

As much as you may focus on the décor and your dress, the aspect of your wedding day that most guests will remember is the food. Therefore, you’ll want to make sure that your menu will be a crowd-pleaser and leave a good impression on attendees. Of course you want to make sure you enjoy the food, but the reception is more about hosting your guests than about having your favorite meal of all time. While pleasing everybody is almost an impossible task, especially if you are having a large event, the rules below will help to make sure that the wedding menu will satiate your guests.

- Have options. Whether you choose to have a sit-down dinner or a buffet, you need to provide some choice for the attendees – even if they make that choice ahead of time. The more options there are, the more likely that everyone will be happy with their meal. However, even two choices of entrees and two types of salads will help. 

- Keep it simple. Food might be a passion for you and your soon-to-be spouse, but feeding a large number of people isn’t the time to get experimental with the cuisine. If cooked well and with the right sauce, even something as simple as chicken can be memorable. 

- Accommodate restrictions. As much of a pain as it might seem, if you want to be seen as a good host it’s important to have options for your guests with dietary restrictions. Vegan, vegetarian, kosher, gluten-free, and those with allergies all deserve to still have a complete meal. Not even having an entrée is an easy way to feel excluded at someone’s celebration. 

- Fit the vibe. While your menu doesn’t need a theme, per se, it’s nice if it can reflect the style of event. This doesn’t just mean more gourmet cuisine at a formal reception, but also means heavier comfort foods for winter weddings and lighter fare for summer soirées.
