The Grand Del Mar is a premier resort located in San Diego, California with architecture reminiscent of a Mediterranean estate and luxurious amenities including a golf course, spa, equestrian facility, and multiple award-winning restaurants. It's no wonder the venue has become one of the most popular wedding destinations in Southern California. The resort offers a variety of stunning indoor and outdoor settings for ceremonies, receptions, and cocktail hours, and limits the number of weddings it hosts to one per day.

Paige Levy-Kouretchian has been the Wedding Specialist at the resort for three years. Get to know a little more about her through our Q&A, then view photographs of a few of the beautiful events she's helped facilitate at the Grand Del Mar.

How old were you when you began your profession? I have been planning events and weddings for 10 years.

What’s the most eccentric request you have ever received from a bride? The Grand Del Mar has a beautiful outdoor ceremony location called the Reflection Lawn. There is a fountain that runs through the center of the lawn and I had a bride who wanted to walk on water, so to speak. However, due to the high price tag of building a clear stage over the fountain, her parents nixed the idea.

What’s your favorite aspect of a wedding? My favorite aspect of the wedding is when the bride and groom see the reception space for the first time. I am filled with joy when they cry or give me a huge hug because they are so happy. Most of the time clients can’t picture what the plans will look like, so it is great for their dreams to come to life. I am so lucky I get to be a part of what is one of the best days of their lives.

What other industry would you be in if not this one? Fashion or entertainment. I love the excitement of both industries.

What famous wedding in history would you have most liked to work on and why? I would've loved to have been a part of the royal wedding. It would have been amazing to play a role in such a great piece of wedding history. Wedding trends for years to come will be inspired from that event.
