For a sophisticated celebration, stick with the tried-and-true: black and white! The classic combination never goes out of style, and is versatile enough to match any wedding theme or venue. Mail black-and-white invitations to provide a hint of what's to come. Select snowy white flowers for the ceremony, and outfit bridesmaids in chic black dresses. Top reception tables with black linens and fluffy arrangments of white flowers. Finish with a cake dressed in black and white fondant! If you're still desiring a bit of color, select one shade (like red or gold) for accent pieces.

Snowy Spring Celebration in Aspen, Colorado
A black-and-white theme is a natural fit for a snowy celebration. The décor at this wedding was a landscape of white featuring clean lines and ebony details, with hard edges, unexpected drama in lighting and staging, and black Billy Balls throughout the striking floral arrangements. Round tables were swathed in white linens patterned in black and crowned with mirrored tabletops. Silver holders of roses and hydrangeas encircled trios of tall, onyx Deco vases topped with hydrangeas and lilies. Long lacquer tables featured metallic candlesticks that burned with midnight-colored candles, as well as clear glass stands with candle shades in ebony.

Black, White & Gold Wedding With Glitter Details in Newport Beach
Glittering gold details punch up a sophisticated black-and-white color palette at this beachy California wedding. Ivory petals lined the aisle, and glass jars filled with arrangements of snowy blooms and purple berries were affixed to white wooden folding chairs. Round tables were topped with ebony linens and either tall or short glass vases brimming with gilded leaves and several varieties of vanilla flowers. Chairs were wrapped in ivory and onyx fabric.

Black, White & Red Wedding in Santa Barbara, California
Red accents liven up a classic black-and-white celebration! Friends and family members gathered on the oceanfront lawn of a resort to witness the bride and groom exchange vows beneath a crisp, white, cabana-like structure trimmed with roses in dramatic shades of red. The dining courtyard was lined with square and long tables dressed in black-and-white patterned linens layered over red silk. Centerpieces featured the event's signature saturated palette of red roses that were arranged in glossy black urns on some tables, and interspersed with black branches on others. Every napkin was trimmed with a crystal, which mirrored the black and clear chandeliers hanging overhead.

Glamorous New York Wedding at Historical French Chateau
A chuppah was crafted entirely of white flowers, evoking a heavenly feel for the nuptials, which were set in the impeccably manicured gardens of the estate. The reception channeled a contemporary, elegant theme with black, white, and silver as the colors of choice. Tabletops were decorated with ebony candelabra, while centerpieces featured white orchids, calla lilies, and hydrangeas languidly brimming from towering milky vases; slender white candlesticks flickered atop. Crystals and beads in the color of midnight were suspended from the arrangements, lending an air of moody sophistication.
