Share the Proposal Itself

Give your Instagram followers a glimpse into the proposal by sharing a photo of the moment you said "yes!" You can either keep the caption simple, or share your proposal story so your friends and family can see how he put a ring on it!

How he asked 💍🥰 It was Christmas Day, and we were at the Taj Mahal. This was unintentional, because we were on a tight schedule. Between my last day of class in the Netherlands and my friend’s wedding in southern India, we had only a couple of days to fly in from Amsterdam, see the sights, and make it to the wedding. I planned the trip, and it just so happened that we were at the Taj Mahal on December 25th. It was foggy that day, and quite cold (if you look closely, you’ll see I’m wearing leggings). Typically, you should visit the Taj Mahal at sunrise to avoid the crowds, but our guide said it was too foggy and that if we went in the morning, we wouldn’t be able to see anything. Tom seemed concerned about the news. We spent the morning visiting other sights, which were almost eerie, being so shrouded in fog. Early afternoon, we finally made it to the Taj Mahal. Sure enough, there were people everywhere. We found the spot, it was surprisingly clear, handed the camera to the tour guide, and then...! He said something. I said something. Neither of us remember what we said, only that the sound of the world had fallen away and we were the only two left. I have often thought that, even if the world as we know it was no more, and we were only spirits adrift in the universe, I would be happy, because we would be together. I would feel at home, because we would be together. #isaidyes #engaged #christmasday #tajmahal

Show Off That Ring!

Another way to announce your engagement is by posting a photo your loved ones certainly won't scroll past – after all, one of the first things most people want to see once you get engaged is your ring! Either post a cute caption about the proposal or you can always go with the "Does this ring make me look engaged?" line if you're at a loss for words. Read these tips on how to photograph an engagement ring!

Say It With a Selfie

One of the most popular ways to share the news that you got engaged is by sharing a ring selfie as well as a photo of you and your dashing fiancé(e)! If you have more than one photo you want to share with your followers, be sure to incorporate the slideshow feature!

Put It in Writing

Whether you choose to use a felt letter board, a marquee board, or any fun signage you have available, put your news in writing! Consider using quotes about engagements, a personal anecdote, or even romantic song lyrics! Another cute engagement announcement twist is to write something cute on your palm and have your ring facing the camera so everyone can see the sparkler!

All Smiles!

Whether your fiancé hired a professional photographer or asked a sibling or friend to take snapshots of the proposal or the aftermath, share those "just engaged" smiles right after you said yes to marrying your beloved!

A Sweet Kiss & Hand Hold

One of the sweetest ways to share your big news is by having a photo taken of you both sharing a kiss and holding hands – with the ring positioned in front of the camera of course! It's also the perfect way to share your happiness if your mascara was running after crying from tears of joy!

Include Your Child (If You Have One)

We love when people share their excitement of new beginnings with their children! This particular bride-to-be shared a ring selfie and a photo of her baby with a bib that read, "Mommy, will you marry daddy?" Cue the happy tears! A Pet-Friendly Announcement

Let your pets break the news! Especially if your pet was part of the proposal, announce your engagement with a photo of your furry friend. Some couples opt to share the news by just posting a photo of their pet with a sign announcing the newly engaged status or engagement quotes!
