4 Ways Your Wedding Can Benefit Charity

Inspired by Prince William and Kate Middleton, who set up a charitable gift fund in lieu of registering for presents (and raised upwards of $1.7 million), we found four wedding-related philanthropies aimed at helping brides and grooms infuse a bit of social consciousness into their big days. It's becoming increasingly popular for altruistic couples to see their events as an opportunity to celebrate their love for one another, while also giving a little something back to the community. Take a look at a few organizations below for ideas on how to make your wedding day even more meaningful.

"I Do" Foundation: Brides and grooms can set up their registry with select stores that will then donate up to 10% of each purchase to a charity of the couple's choosing. IDoFoundation.org.

Flower Power Foundation: Collects wedding flowers, re-assembles them, and distributes them to the elderly, sick, and terminally ill in New York City and Los Angeles. FlowerPowerFoundation.org.

Brides Against Breast Cancer: Donates proceeds from the sales of previously worn and donated gowns to "Making Memories," a non-profit that gives breast cancer patients an opportunity to fulfill a dream or wish. BridesAgainstBreastCancer.org.

City Harvest: Redistributes leftover food from weddings and other similar events to New York City's homeless. CityHarvest.org.
