Prior to their magical wedding in Missouri with over 550 loved ones planning to attend, Avery (née Jeffcoat) and Michael Green sought out household basics and unique accent pieces for their new home, in addition to tools, outdoor materials, and items for entertaining at their abode together.

“My philosophy for our registry was to put a variety of items that we liked on the list, while also giving our guests plenty of options to choose what they would like to give,” explains Avery. That mindset also led the couple to register at multiple retailers, including local small businesses in addition to larger stores available nationwide.

The affianced pair began their wedding registry by popping into Crate and Barrel in person. Finding it extremely seamless to use their phones to scan items, they were pleased with the experience and felt comfortable adding additional products using the store’s website. “Their registry process is so easy, and they have lots of beautiful, yet affordable pieces to choose from,” details Avery. There, they selected a lovely Leland rattan beverage tub, a handy Le Creuset Chambray eight-quart enameled stockpot, and a striking 11-bottle gold wine rack.

While continuing their online shopping, they added Amazon to their list of wish-list retailers. “It’s the place where you can find just about anything – from custom pillows to food-storage organizers to bed frames – it really has it all! This is where we added our basic home items,” describes the bride. Rounding out their registry, they thought it would be nice for Michael to add some favorites. “On MyRegistry.com, we were able to add tools from Home Depot and other outdoor appliances,” tells Avery of these unique, yet practical registry additions. Michael jokes, “My items were things that could be used to build Avery’s things.”

“Picking out pieces for our future home was one of our favorite activities during the wedding-planning process.”

Williams Sonoma was a definite must-visit for the couple because of the wide range of kitchenware and baking sets they were interested in perusing, while they opted for Pottery Barn to select sheets and towels. “They have some of the best!” confirms Avery.

A few of their Williams Sonoma selects were useful Nordic Ware cast-aluminum party Bundt-cake pans and an instant six-quart Dutch oven slow cooker. They also found that Pottery Barn had cool pieces that would work great for entertaining, including handwoven wicker-and-glass tumblers and a Chambray Tile stoneware cake stand.

For their local stores, Avery and Michael easily knew which two places they would pick to help them finish off their dream registry list. “Birdwell’s offers an amazing selection of trinkets, gifts, and accent pieces, and we knew having a registry here would be a hit!” Avery says of the Louisiana favorite. Lewis Gifts is another local gem for betrothed couples. “We chose Lewis Gifts because they have such a beautiful collection of dishware, china, and glasses,” details Avery. “I got to pick out the most beautiful butterfly plate that went along with our wedding theme, and we also selected our toasting flutes for the wedding here as well.”

Avery and Michael are so thankful for all the thoughtful gifts they received from family and friends. “Our guests took care of us so well; we’ve been really happy with everything we received,” confirms the bride. “Picking out pieces for our future home was one of our favorite activities during the wedding-planning process. Have fun with it!”

Wedding Registry Tips from Avery & Michael

Do your research.

“I spent a lot of time researching online and got tons of recommendations from different home bloggers on social media.”

Mix it up.

“In person helped us decide between items and discover new ones, while online was great to compare and see reviews to learn more.” Don’t limit yourself. “We liked having a big list of registries because what we didn’t get, we either bought ourselves or had a list ready to go for Christmas or birthdays.”

Keep holidays in mind.

“We love to celebrate holidays, which includes decorating our house to fit the theme. If you’re like us, consider adding Christmas lights to the list!”
