During her final year of studying in Cape Town, South Africa, Leandrie Rosemund happened to meet her future husband, Clinton Leary. “After meeting for the first time, we immediately started talking and laughing until sunrise the next morning,” she smiles. “From day one, we spoke easily and were very comfortable with each other. The feeling between us grew stronger every day.” On her birthday a few years later, Clinton proposed at the top of the Eiffel Tower.

In spirit of their engagement story and admiration of France, they decided to exchange vows in the European country. “We absolutely love the French culture, from the food, historic buildings, and the romantic atmosphere,” explains the bride. “We wanted our wedding day to have the same look and feel as France.” They also believed that it was the perfect place to host an intimate soirée for less than 50 attendees. On the summer day of the celebration, everyone gathered in the enchanting garden for the ceremony, which was officiated by Leandrie’s sister’s mother-in-law. “We wanted someone close to marry us,” she explains. “We were very comfortable with her [and] this made our ceremony even more special for us.”

Since their wedding occured in July, the couple chose a palette of popular summertime hues. “Our colors were shades of pinks, greens, and gold,” the bride tells. They also minimized their décor and floral arrangements to highlight the natural beauty surrounding them. “We wanted the French countryside landscape, with the small town of Boussac’s historic buildings, as our wedding backdrop,” Leandrie reveals. “The beautiful gardens at [our venue] and the soft, classical French music gave it a real French theme. With such a breathtaking environment, we did not need to do much to make it look beautiful.” Aside from the ambience, guests indulged in the delicious French dishes, a scrumptious cake, and miniature Champagne bottles with “Merci Beaucoup” inscribed on them.

Like many brides, Leandrie stresses the importance of staying true to your own wants when planning your dream day. “You will never please everyone,” she says. “With this mindset, a lot of pressure goes away. After all, it is your special day!”
