Kaley Kronenberger and Jack Baulch first crossed paths at a house party in London – one the bride happened to be hosting. With not quite enough food to go around, they ended up sharing a plate, a simple moment that quickly became a memorable beginning.

Their connection deepened over time, eventually leading to a thoughtful, intimate proposal in their shared apartment in Surrey. The groom lined the walls with photographs collected throughout their relationship, which was even more meaningful since the bride is a photographer and was studying fine art at Goldsmiths University of London.

Planning from abroad proved no small feat, and the couple relied heavily on their “fantastic wedding planner, Liz Kriegshaber,” who offered not only guidance but structure. “Start early and get a wedding planner!” the bride confirms of the best advice they received. Liz also helped the pair with final decisions, streamlining a process they describe as “surprisingly rigorous, almost like a full-time job.” Living in London while planning a Chicago wedding required extra coordination, and the bride’s parents played a vital role, visiting venues, meeting with vendors, and working closely with Liz to bring their vision to life.

Chicago was the natural choice for the location of the couple’s wedding celebration. The bride’s large family lives locally, and the couple selected a hotel venue that offered everything needed for both the wedding and for their many guests traveling from the UK.

On November 25, 190 loved ones gathered for the ceremony at 6PM. The bride added a deeply personal touch to the printed programs: she hand-drew custom caricatures of each member of the bridal party, including herself, Jack, and their parents, all depicted in the exact outfits they wore on the wedding day.

Kaley curated the wedding aesthetic with a clear, romantic direction: a French country look with a wintry twist. The palette blended dusty rose and mauve with touches of frosty blue. Florals were intentionally soft and desaturated with combinations of dusty rose and mauve blooms accented with white baby’s breath, minimal greenery, and wooden branches for a seasonal feel.

“[I] just wish I could do it all again!”

Guests enjoyed a refined sit-down dinner featuring short rib or miso cod, preceded by roasted butternut squash soup with tandoori prawn and a crispy naan salad with grilled paneer. A lively band – one of the couple’s biggest priorities – kept the energy high throughout the night.

The reception concluded at midnight, with a beautifully cohesive design carried through to the three-tier wedding cake decorated in the same dusty palette with piped floral details. Custom iced cookies served as favors, with one shaped like Chicago’s iconic Bean and the other a London telephone box – a sweet nod to the couple’s transatlantic life.

Music played a defining role throughout the celebration, weaving the couple’s personality into meaningful moments. For the ceremony, they chose a live acoustic instrumental version of Oasis’ “Whatever” for the processional, an understated, poetic choice. For the recessional, Liam Gallagher’s voice “booming down the aisle” set a tone that felt unmistakably personal.

One of the most memorable moments of the evening came during the first dance. The bride’s sister, whose music goes by Official Claire, sang a song she wrote for the special moment. The couple had choreographed a routine, creating a joyful, animated experience they’ll never forget.

Reflecting on the day, Kaley shares only one wish: “I really enjoyed the ceremony, and it flew by so fast! I don’t think I would have had it be any longer… just wish I could do it all again!” Their advice for other couples is simple: “It’s a party to celebrate a big relationship milestone with the ones you love… Don’t get too in your head about it, don’t put pressure on it, and have fun.”
