It was “love at first swipe,” reveals Brittany Lichtig when describing how she and her beloved Michael Sugarman met. The two found one another through a dating app and were happy to learn that they had mutual friends, both lived in Los Angeles and worked as attorneys, and that their moms even knew each other. “The first time I saw him in person, I knew instantly he was The One,” she confides. Michael adds with a smile, “Swiping right was the best decision I ever made.”

A year later, Michael took Brittany out one evening under the guise of dinner at a beachside restaurant. Really, Michael had secretly rented out the entire top-floor deck in order to propose. He had also arranged for their parents, siblings, and friends to surprise Brittany with an engagement party immediately following. “It was the most perfect night and truly a dream come true,” shares the bride.

The Los Angeles natives agreed their hometown was the ideal place to wed. With the help of the bride’s mother and the professionals at International Event Company, the couple navigated wedding planning with ease. For the ceremony, Brittany and Michael opted for the garden area of an iconic hotel in Beverly Hills. “It was charming and special and felt magical from the first time we saw it,” describes the bride.

“Since we got married in June, it was important to me that the color scheme was light and summery. We decided on white tones to complement the beautiful greenery of the space,” muses Brittany. The chuppah was covered in fresh vanilla roses, while the aisle had cream delphiniums lining both sides. “It looked as if the delphiniums were growing naturally in the garden,” she adds.

“We had our first kiss as husband and wife under this amazing shower of confetti, and it was absolutely perfect.”

As guests arrived, a pianist performed classic love songs. Once family and friends were seated, a string quartet began playing classical music. In lieu of the typical version of Pachelbel’s “Canon in D,” the bride had requested that the musicians compose and play a special arrangement. Loved ones rose as the bride made her grand entrance on the arm of her father.

She wore a timeless lace ball gown with a sweetheart bodice and carried all-white peonies complemented with blush spring roses. The traditional Jewish wedding service ended with the customary breaking of the glass timed perfectly with the launch of a confetti cannon. “We had our first kiss as husband and wife under this amazing shower of confetti, and it was absolutely perfect,” reflects Brittany.

For the ballroom wedding reception, the design scheme reflected the classic, romantic style the couple had desired. Upscale white-and-blush arrangements of peonies, roses, orchids, and hydrangeas bedecked glass-top tables, as well as candles in varying heights to add dimension and depth to the room.

Dinner menus were personalized with each guest’s name, as well as the couple’s monogram motif. Following a delectable dinner service, guests enjoyed slices of the seven-layer wedding confection – ranging from a tier of Funfetti® to another featuring chocolate with raspberry mousse. “Each tier was a different flavor and all delicious,” declares Brittany.

With guests’ energy levels up, the merriment continued on the dance floor. “We had an amazing band,” confirms the groom. “People still talk to me months later about how great they were.” During the course of the reception, a live painter captured all the magic of the evening. “It is so realistic and one of my most favorite possessions,” tells Michael of the custom art piece.

With the couple’s last name being Sugarman, the pair knew they wanted to somehow incorporate a sugary element. With that in mind, they arranged for miniature two-tiered wedding cakes set in clear boxes with tags that read “Something Sweet” as guest favors. “Everyone raved about eating cake on their way home and for breakfast the next morning!” says Brittany.

The celebration was as dreamy as the couple had imagined, especially because it included personal touches throughout. “I think weddings are even more special when there are a lot of personal details,” she expresses. “This was important to me – from the ceremony song selection to the take-home favors.” Her husband couldn’t agree more: “I wish I could experience our special day again and again.”
