Beginning with a swipe, “the world’s worst pickup line,” and a moment of hesitation that almost changed everything, the love story of Jordan Britt and NFL player Rick Lovato – two-time Super Bowl champion with the Philadelphia Eagles – began.
Living in New York City and working as a producer at the time, Jordan wasn’t sure a match with a Philadelphia-based football player would go anywhere. After Rick’s now-infamous message – “On a scale from 1 to 999-999-9999, what are my chances of guessing your phone number?” – Jordan nearly took her coworkers’ advice and didn’t respond. Thankfully, she did, and after meeting for lunch, they quickly became inseparable.
Rick proposed two years later during what Jordan believed would be a quiet Thanksgiving visit at her sister’s home. After an evening of wine on the back patio, Jordan stepped outside, only to find Rick waiting beneath a tree strung with lights and rose petals scattered at his feet. As she walked toward him, he dropped to one knee, transforming an ordinary family gathering into a moment neither would ever forget.
After a long engagement extended by the pandemic, the couple wed during a late-winter wedding in Philadelphia, the city where they had built their life together and one that held deep significance as the foundation of their relationship. With 247 guests in attendance, including Rick’s large extended family, the celebration required a venue spacious enough to host everyone comfortably.
The ceremony began at 4:30 p.m., setting the tone for an evening that would balance modern elegance with meaningful personal touches. The color palette was intentionally simple and striking: black and white, softened by an abundance of white tulips. One of the most personal moments of the day came during the ceremony, which was officiated by Jordan’s two sisters. Working in tandem, they crafted a script that was both entertaining and deeply emotional, weaving in the couple’s story to ensure every guest felt connected.
The reception followed with a seated dinner that emphasized food, entertainment, and décor – the areas Jordan and Rick prioritized most while planning. Floral designs featured tall, dark green centerpieces along a long table accented with boxes of tulips and candlelight emitted from gold candelabras entwined with greenery. Custom coasters doubled as place cards and favors, giving attendees a keepsake to take home.
Guests enjoyed a menu of filet mignon with asparagus and dauphinoise potatoes, Chilean sea bass with risotto and broccolini, and pumpkin squash ravioli, followed by a three-tier vanilla chocolate chip wedding cake finished with buttercream.
Emotion ran high throughout the evening, particularly during Jordan’s mother-daughter dance. Set to “Lady in Red,” the song her parents had danced to at their wedding years earlier, the moment became even more poignant when Jordan’s brother joined them on the dance floor.
Among the many standout details of the day was the illuminated seating chart, designed and built by Jordan and her neighbor. The striking display created a true wow moment for guests before the reception and ultimately inspired a new business for the bride. "My neighbor and I created this with inspiration from my planners/designers, and now we started a business making these seating chart for other brides!" she smiles.
As the night stretched into an after-party that lasted until midnight, the dance floor stayed packed. Looking back, Jordan and Rick wouldn’t change a thing about their big day – except perhaps preparing a more detailed photography shot list. Their advice to future couples is simple: hire a wedding planner, stand your ground on what matters most, and enjoy every moment.
