Call it a 21st century romance. Julian Singer first laid (virtual) eyes on Rebecca Koslow after seeing a Facebook post she had written to wish a mutual friend happy birthday and, intrigued, asked if she was single. Sparks flew on their first date, even though Becky admits, “I did most of the talking and dominated about 90 percent of the conversation!” But when it came to the proposal, Julian found just the right words. In his parents’ backyard, “he sat down on the lounge chair next to me, said ‘I love you, Beck. Will you marry me?’ and placed the open ring box on the table next to me. I was in total shock and disbelief,” Becky reminisces.

As a bride who had been planning her wedding since she was a little girl, Becky already had a venue in mind: the luxurious country club she had grown up attending. Desiring a garden-like atmosphere, the entrance to the ceremony featured a bronze gate festooned with flowers in shades of white, pink, and green. A magnificent chuppah was composed of four posts wrapped in greenery, topped by arches of ivory and blush blooms. Even Becky’s dress complemented the theme: the A-line gown was covered in floral appliqués.

To give their Jewish ceremony a personal touch, the couple drank from the kiddush cup Julian used at his bar mitzvah, and the tallis of each of their late grandfathers was incorporated into the chuppah. Indeed, Becky says the best moment of the day was being surrounded by loved ones during the service. “I remember looking around at our family under the chuppah and everyone had the biggest smiles on their faces,” the bride remembers. “It was an unforgettable moment.”

Inside the white fabric walls of the reception tent, the lavish party was bathed in lavender and pink lighting. Tables were adorned with towering glass vessels dripping with floral arrangements in a rainbow of colors. “I wanted everyone to be looking at something beautiful while sitting down for dinner,” Becky explains.

Since Julian’s only request for the wedding was “an obscene amount of food,” the cocktail hour offered a delectable selection, such as mini hot dogs, a pasta bar, carving station, and sushi. After the sit-down dinner, guests enjoyed make-your-own sundaes and a classic white cake with pink and purple sugar flowers that matched the centerpieces.

The most valuable advice the bride and groom received was courtesy of Becky’s sister, who encouraged the couple to stay by each other’s sides throughout the celebration. “It’s easy to be pulled in different directions with many people to see, but we really made a point of sticking together throughout the night,” Becky confirms. “It was great advice as we were able to enjoy every aspect of our wedding together!”
