Fall weddings are nothing short of spectacular: they’re an opportunity to play with color and emotion in a whole new way. Additionally, when you’re working with an alfresco California setting, you can achieve just about any design you can imagine. Photographer Lucas Rossi conducted a wedding styled shoot featuring uncommon bridal colors in a perfectly rustic-chic space to showcase the beauty of this idyllic season. After gathering a team of vendors and acquiring the optimal pieces, this “Romantic Sunset Chic” styled shoot was born.

The shoot features two distinct tablescape concepts. The first, constructed against the backdrop of a bold wall of bougainvillea, displays a very simple design of an ivory, patterned linen bedecked with clean white china plates. Each setting is surrounded by small gilt votives and glasses, giving way to the taller centerpieces in the middle – two low arrangements and one larger focal point, all featuring ferns accented with white dahlias, tulips, and ranunculus blossoms. Plates also display small berry tarts to add pops of color and further the rustic feel of the motif. The model, sporting a simple A-line gown with a strapless sweetheart neckline, carries a bouquet of similar foliage to the centerpiece – mostly consisting of greenery – and dons a natural headband made of verdure and miniature ivory blooms.

The second tablescape goes a little farther and bolder with its color palette. The wooden table displays a sheer black linen draped haphazardly across the length of it, flanked by chairs featuring twisting vines along their backs. Grey-rimmed charger plates are stacked at each setting, topped with sprigs of fruit vines, and dark goblets and clear glasses are scattered about the table. The center features two tall mercury-glass vases holding up clusters of foliage adorned with burgundy and caramel roses, astilbe, jasmine vines, peony tulips, and dahlias – the same perennials that can be found in the bride’s new bouquet. Additionally, she showcases a new floral headpiece: a clip on the side of her head that showcases foliage and miniature red blooms.
