From their very first meeting on a rainy night at a cozy local bar, Sydnee Grossberg and Andrew Vosper felt an immediate spark. “From the moment we started talking, there was an instant connection,” Sydnee recalls. Andrew’s quiet confidence and warmth left a lasting impression, as he was “curious, kind, and effortlessly cool,” remembers Sydnee. When the evening ended, Andrew offered her a ride home, which she politely declined, opting instead to walk home in the downpour. Before she even reached her doorstep, a text arrived asking her out again. “From that very first evening, it felt like we had found something rare and real,” she shares.
Years later after a week in the Maldives filled with snorkeling, sunsets, and unhurried days, Andrew saved his engagement surprise for the very end of the trip. He led Sydnee to a secluded beach just as the sky turned shades of cotton-candy pink and gold. Rose petals, flickering candles, and the rhythmic sound of waves set the romantic scene as he got down on one knee. “It was the easiest ‘YES!!!’” Sydnee smiles. The celebration continued with a private sunset dinner and a beachside screening of The Notebook beneath the stars. “It felt like we were the ones in a film,” the bride remembers.
When it came time to plan their wedding, the couple leaned on a trusted circle of friends who shared honest insights from their own celebrations. Sydnee’s mother, too, became their anchor throughout the process. “Not only is she my best friend, but she was my rock,” Sydnee shares. Above all, the couple centered every decision around creating a meaningful experience for their guests. “Having all our loved ones together in one place is such a rare and precious gift,” Sydnee explains. “We wanted our wedding to feel just as special for them as it was for us.”
“We wanted guests to feel enveloped in an enchanting, intimate atmosphere.”
That intention guided them to North Garden, Virginia, filled with natural beauty. Some of their most meaningful moments as a couple had unfolded outdoors, including the first time Andrew said “I love you” during a trek in Boulder. When they discovered Pippin Hill, nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains near Shenandoah National Park, it immediately resonated. “Choosing it wasn’t just about the backdrop; it was about finding a place that reflected who we are as a couple and the love we share,” Andrew says. Rolling vineyards and blooming hydrangeas greeted guests upon arrival, setting the tone for a celebration inspired by nature.
Surrounded by 120 of their closest friends and family, the ceremony – officiated by the bride’s brother – began at 6PM. While the day’s schedule ran behind and cut a bit into their cocktail hour, the ceremony unfolded exactly as intended: intimate, heartfelt, and deeply personal. One of the most meaningful elements came from honoring Sydnee’s Jewish heritage. Breaking the glass symbolized both the fragility and strength of love, while the hora during the reception brought pure joy. “Being lifted into the air, surrounded by everyone we care about, felt like a celebration not just of us as a couple, but of our families, our friends, and the incredible community literally and figuratively holding us up,” Sydnee muses. “Those traditions didn’t just honor Sydnee’s Jewish roots, they made us feel even more connected to each other, and to the larger story we’re now part of together,” Andrew adds.
The couple’s vision for the evening was centered on romance. “We wanted guests to feel enveloped in an enchanting, intimate atmosphere,” Sydnee describes, and they wanted the beauty of the outdoors to be gently brought inside. Soft, dim lighting and candlelight created warmth, while lush greenery added depth and a sense of organic elegance to the space.
Music was one of the clearest reflections of Sydnee and Andrew’s personalities. “We loved our music!” Andrew affirms. The ceremony was curated with care, with the musicians learning multiple songs to make the processional and first kiss feel magical. The lively celebration continued with a live band, whose repertoire kept the dance floor packed across generations. “As a couple bonded through music, it was important to us that the band played an eclectic mix that spoke to us while winning over every generation in attendance,” Sydnee confirms.
As the evening winded down, guests were invited outside to toast s’mores by the firepits beneath the stars, a quiet nod to the natural setting that framed the entire celebration. However, the most unforgettable moment came after the last guest had departed. Alone on the dance floor, Sydnee and Andrew shared one final dance. “In that quiet, surreal space, it felt as though the world had paused just for us,” Sydnee recalls. They slow-danced to Van Morrison’s “Into the Mystic,” savoring the stillness after a day filled with emotion and joy.
