For Savannah Troutt and Ben Stubbs, love began in the most unassuming way – a friendly game of cornhole during their junior year at the University of Texas at Austin. “At the time, we didn’t exchange much more than a few laughs and some playful competition,” Savannah recalls. A few months later, they found themselves at the same birthday dinner, and something clicked. “We talked for hours,” she reveals.
Soon after, Ben asked her out on their first date. “I was so nervous – completely filled with butterflies – but also incredibly excited,” she remembers. As Savannah left the Theta house that evening, her friends cheered from the balcony, making a scene she’ll never forget. From that night on, Savannah and Ben have been inseparable.
Four years later, Ben planned a proposal that would take his beloved completely by surprise. During a family trip to the Cayman Islands, she thought they were simply getting ready to take photos for their Christmas cards. “I was tired, hungry, and ready for dinner,” Savannah laughs. “I still can’t believe they managed to keep everything a secret.”
Sent downstairs to “meet the photographer,” she was asked to take a few shots with Ben while waiting for the rest of the family. “As soon as he took my hands, I knew exactly what was happening,” she says. When he got down on one knee, Savannah’s entire family rushed outside, cheering, followed by Ben’s parents who appeared from behind the bushes. The celebration that followed – complete with live island music – was, as Savannah describes it, “the most perfect and unforgettable day.”
When planning their wedding, Savannah knew she wanted a design that reflected faith and timeless beauty. “I envisioned a ballroom filled with flowers – everywhere!” she shares. “I wanted our day to feel classic and elegant. Most of all, I wanted our wedding to represent Christ and His beautiful and endless love for us.”
Working closely with her mother and planner, Savannah’s dream came to life through a blend of personal faith, family warmth, and exquisite detail. “The wedding-planning process truly takes a village. I could not have done it without the love and support of my mom, our amazing planner, and my husband,” she says.
“[It was] the most beautiful scene I have ever seen in my life.”
After a quiet moment together with her mom prior to the ceremony, Savannah made her grand entrance with her father while a collection of violinists and a pianist played classical hymns, just as the bride had envisioned. She was resplendent in a timeless off-the-shoulder gown, preceded by bridesmaids donning long gowns in a shade of pale blue.
Following the traditional service, loved ones enjoyed cocktail hour. Meanwhile, Savannah and Ben shared one of their favorite memories from the day: a private dinner together before joining the reception. “It was such a special time to reflect on our day and our future together, just the two of us,” she confides.
Guests entered a candlelit ballroom adorned with impressive floral chandeliers, a mix of round and rectangular tables bedecked with wow-worthy tablescapes filled with thoughtful details, and glowing candelabras that lent a chic element to the romantic space. Custom bar pieces were adorned with florals overhead, much like the style of the ceremony with fresh blooms incorporated into every element.
“[It was] the most beautiful scene I have ever seen in my life,” illustrates the bride of the floral masterpieces comprised of thousands of hydrangeas, roses, peonies, lilacs, lilies of the valley, sweet peas, delphiniums, and verdure.
Once the band struck its first note, the celebration took off. “The fabulous band and all of the extra horns and violins made it the most fun celebration of our lives,” Savannah exclaims. “They made everything so personalized and special.” The newlyweds shared a sweet first dance, that made an unforgettable memory for the newlyweds, in addition to their final dance with only the two of them in the room.
The new Mrs. encourages other brides and grooms to avoid worrying about the small things. “It is all in God’s hands, and the most important thing to remember is that this day is about you and your husband getting married.”
