Though it may be a surprise for those who remember watching her dad on TV, Bindi Irwin is growing up. The conservationist recently turned 21 and while celebrating her birthday, her longtime boyfriend Chandler Powell popped the question.

Though it may be a surprise for those who remember watching her dad on TV, Bindi Irwin is growing up. The conservationist and star of Crikey! It’s the Irwins on Animal Planet recently turned 21 and while celebrating her birthday – at the Australia Zoo, of course – her longtime boyfriend Chandler Powell popped the question. The beautiful engagement ring features an oval center stone set in a twisted rose gold band. In the engagement photos, the birthday girl wore a short cotton dress with long sleeves and a white-and-blush floral pattern on a dark blue base. Her subtle, natural makeup and purple manicure highlight her youth and practical nature.

According to People, the happy couple first met in November 2013 when they were both teenagers. Chandler, who is originally from Florida, was a professional wakeboarder and visited the zoo when in Australia for a competition. As luck would have it, Bindi was giving tours. The two teens hit it off right away and have dated ever since. In 2018, Chandler moved to Australia to be closer to Bindi and her family. Posting on her Twitter account about the big news of their engagement, mother of the bride-to-be Terri Irwin said, “I am so very happy, and I know Steve would be too.”
