Guests Wore Their Bridal Gowns to This Real Wedding
The bride wanted them to be able to wear their dream dresses again!

Though some wedding etiquette has changed over the years, one rule that has stood the test of time for Western weddings is that only the bride should wear white. The major exception to this rule is when the bride requests it. That was the case with Audrey Moore, an actress who has appeared in Better Call Saul and Godless. When she married writer Jesse Lumen right before New Year’s Eve, they knew they didn’t want their nuptials to be typical. The quirky couple had a step-and-repeat backdrop for their big day, guests were invited to dress up in costumes, and the groom and groomsmen wore tuxedo hoodies for their attire. Perhaps the most surprising thing, however, is that Audrey asked each female attendee – including her bridesmaids – to wear their own bridal gowns to the celebration.

“I’ve always loved every wedding dress every single one of my friends has worn and over the years they would repeatedly mention to me how sad they were that they could only wear their wedding dress once. So it dawned on me, I should have them all wear their dresses to my wedding!” the bride explains. “I knew I had never seen it done before and I just loved the idea of all the girls gathered together like princesses to celebrate our special day. I felt that seeing them in their dresses with me in my own would make it all that more special.” At first, the guests weren’t sure if they really should, especially when Audrey added they should still wear their veils as well. However, there was no fear of anyone upstaging the beautiful bride in her custom blue ball gown, which was a secret until the morning of the wedding. “I even went to extra lengths to protect anyone from peaking by putting the dress, veil, shoes, and bouquet in extra bags and boxes so no one could spoil the surprise!” the bride reveals.

The dress may have evoked images of Cinderella, but that wasn’t always the vision. “I was open to all colors — including white! Once I saw this fabric I was immediately in love. I wasn’t trying to be a renegade. I just wanted to look and feel magical with all the magical women that surround me on a daily basis!” Audrey shares. For the unmarried women, they borrowed a dress from a friend or even wore their mother or grandmother’s gowns. No matter what, it was a great opportunity to allow a dream dress to be worn more than once!
