After meeting during their senior year at Vanderbilt, Oliver Cenedella drove through a snowstorm to meet Carmella Quintos’ family for the first time at their home in Park City, Utah. Four years later, that very same home would become the site of their nuptial celebration.

When deciding upon a location, Carmella and Oliver – who reside in Austin, Texas – knew they wanted to get married in the mountains. “We have spent the last few years in Park City, love to ski, and knew that was where we wanted to start,” begins the bride, “but after looking at so many venues, we didn’t find one we liked until my dad pitched us on our own home.” They planned an alfresco ceremony on the mountain followed by a beautiful backyard celebration with an après-ski feel.

Since the reception took place at the home of the bride’s parents, the couple worked closely with them, along with a talented local planner. “We would not have been able to pull this off without her,” confirms Carmella. As for her parents, she loved watching their differing skills in action: “My dad has a true eye for design, color, and gardening, and completely redid our whole backyard with florals and greenery [and] my mom really knows how to execute and helped with everything from the florals, invitations, and of course, my wedding dress!”

They curated a design scheme that perfectly fit the bride’s vision of highlighting color that blended seamlessly with the mountain setting. An elevated wooden aisle was decorated with blooms in vibrant shades of pink and blue, complementing the green forest landscape. Though there was only a 1% chance of rain in the forecast, “as soon as I stepped down the aisle, I felt a rain drop and truly knew it was going to pour,” Carmella shares. “It made the whole ceremony surreal, and everyone was telling us that as soon as we were pronounced husband and wife, lighting struck behind us.”

After the “I dos,” which included the Filipino cord-and-veil tradition that symbolizes unity and protection in honor of the bride’s heritage, loved ones gathered at her family home. The backyard had been transformed with bistro, cocktail, and dining tables covered in blue-and-white patterned linens, high and low arrangements of colorful blooms surrounded by floating candles, light-colored lounge furniture that contrasted with the black dining chairs and clear-top tent, and a custom bar offering up the couple’s signature cocktails: Carmella’s Aperol spritz, Oliver’s Old Fashioned, and an “Ours” hibiscus margarita, as a nod to their life in Texas.

A strolling reception with various food stations kept the celebration feeling relaxed, as guests mingled and enjoyed an oyster-shucking bar, living salad wall, gnocchi bar, mesquite grill station, and wood-fired pizza at their leisure. “We didn’t want anything that was over the top and wanted everything to feel true to us,” Carmella adds of the après-ski vibe of the day, which was highlighted with ski-themed napkins and matchbooks, as well as vintage skis in lieu of a guest book. Slices of wedding cake, delectable desserts, and even a late-night ramen station kept guests satiated for a night on the dance floor, where “from Park City with Love” hats were passed out.

“Park City is one of our favorite places, and it was so special to get to spend time around town throughout the weekend with our favorite people,” affirms the bride. “Having our wedding at my parents’ home was something, going into planning, that I didn’t expect, but it was by far the best decision we made… The home has been a place for years that we have gathered with friends and family, and it made so much sense to make more memories for our wedding.”
