“The day we met, the rest was history,” Elizabeth Milis recalls of the moment her life changed when she was introduced to Martin Feldman through a mutual family friend. One rainy summer day in Paris, the couple walked 40 minutes to the Eiffel Tower under the guise of a family photo session.
“Martin got down on one knee and asked me to marry him, and I have never been so surprised in my life. I was not expecting it at all,” Elizabeth remembers of the magical proposal. The moment became even more meaningful when both families joined them to celebrate the rest of their trip in the City of Light.
Their late-summer wedding planned by Mango Weddings and Events in Cancún, Mexico, was designed with elegance, comfort, and tradition in mind. Elizabeth and Martin selected a ceremony location that offered the perfect beach backdrop, while allowing guests to remain comfortably in shoes, with the reception held in an air-conditioned ballroom.
“I wanted the wedding to be black tie,” Elizabeth says. “Even though we were at a resort in Mexico, I did not want a beachy or boho-style wedding.” Elizabeth credits her mother for guiding her through the design, food, and wardrobe decisions, while her mother-in-law assisted with travel logistics. Her sisters were also by her side throughout the week, ensuring every detail unfolded perfectly.
The outdoor ceremony reflected their Jewish faith, featuring a chuppah, the breaking of the glass, and a challah bread-cutting ceremony at the start of the reception. Elizabeth carried a modest bouquet of white peonies to complement her gorgeous designer gown and pearl-dotted veil from Mark Ingram Atelier without overshadowing it, and the bridesmaids’ flowers were light pink to coordinate with their dresses.
The chuppah combined white blooms, greenery, and pastel accents, while reception centerpieces echoed the same designs scheme and color palette. Instead of a traditional wedding party, the couple’s siblings and cousins walked with them down the aisle, adding a deeply personal touch. A highlight was the daytime fireworks show that illuminated the sky as the couple kissed after breaking the glass – a moment Elizabeth says was “a huge WOW factor” for their guests.
“I wanted the wedding to be black tie. Even though we were at a resort in Mexico, I did not want a beachy or boho-style wedding.”
“The entire wedding really reflected our personalities,” Elizabeth confirms of their destination wedding. “From the design, to the music, to the little extra surprises and details, it was really a wedding that was so authentically us.” Floral design played an essential role in achieving the timeless, classic aesthetic the pair desired, so centerpieces highlighted bountiful arrangements paired with thoughtful place settings for loved ones. Guests enjoyed a sit-down dinner service, followed by slices from a white four-tier cake adorned with peonies.
Reflecting on the day, Elizabeth shares her best advice for other couples: “The best advice is to not be stressed and just remember that you are marrying the love of your life and at the end of the day that is all that matters. And to also enjoy every second!” For Elizabeth and Martin, every detail – from floral arrangements to family traditions and surprise fireworks – made their Cancún celebration a classic, unforgettable experience.
Their wedding celebrations concluded with an incredible honeymoon in the South of France, beginning in Cannes – and ending with a sojourn in Paris, revisiting the city where Martin had proposed and celebrating their one-year anniversary with wine, sightseeing, and unforgettable dinners as husband and wife.
