After meeting on the Lox Club dating app, Sloane Gevinson and Danny Steinmetz quickly discovered that their connection was anything but ordinary. Their first date in New York City stretched on for hours – so long, in fact, that they were the last guests at the bar and were politely asked to leave. From that evening forward, their love story unfolded naturally and with certainty.

“Our relationship progressed steadily, and we quickly became very engrained in each other’s lives to the point that I couldn’t imagine going through life without Sloane. She was clearly The One for me,” says Danny. Before long, he traveled to Florida to ask for her parents’ blessing, and later proposed with a sparkling cushion-cut diamond engagement ring.

When it came time to plan their wedding, one decision was effortlessly clear: the couple selected the same venue where Danny’s brother had married three years prior – the first wedding they attended together. “I left that weekend saying I needed to get married there because I thought it was the most spectacular, magical place,” affirms the bride, who also loved that the property provided the opportunity for their closest friends and family to stay onsite throughout the weekend. “They got to enjoy the amazing grounds, pickleball, lake activities, and just relaxing, which was a very unique way to spend time leading up to the wedding,” describes Danny, who continues to hear glowing praise from loved ones.

“I’ll never forget saying my vows in front of all of our favorite people. It was truly the best few minutes of my life.”

On the day of the celebration, 265 loved ones gathered for the outdoor ceremony and took their seats on wooden benches and chairs set against the serene backdrop of New York’s Hudson Valley amidst towering pine trees facing a shimmering lake. “I wanted an elegant, romantic, whimsical outdoor ceremony with lots of greenery, yellows, and purples,” the bride explains of the décor. She wore a stunning off-the-shoulder gown and carried a bouquet of hellebores as she walked down the aisle to “If I Ain’t Got You” by Alicia Keys. She met her groom beneath the chuppah, standing beside bridesmaids in mismatched dresses that celebrated the soft hues of the wedding palette.

“Watching Sloane walk down the aisle really got to me, and reading our vows to each other is a moment I will always remember,” Danny shares. For Sloane, the emotion of the ceremony was equally profound. “I’ll never forget saying my vows in front of all of our favorite people. It was truly the best few minutes of my life. I have never been more proud to share my love for someone in front of all the people we love and care for the most.” The ceremony concluded with the breaking of the glass, honoring Jewish tradition, and the newlyweds recessed to “Signed, Sealed, Delivered (I’m Yours)” by Stevie Wonder, “which was very fun and very us,” the bride confirms.

The evening continued inside the venue’s barn, where the design scheme and floor-to-ceiling windows brought the outdoors indoors. “I wanted the reception to have a moody, sexy, romantic, dark vibe,” describes Sloane of her vision. A rich palette of lavenders, mauves, purples, and plums set the tone, with velvet-clad tables adorned with arrangements of allium blossoms, hydrangeas, ranunculuses, and lush greenery. Tall glass-encased taper candles cast a warm glow throughout the space, while a dramatic stylized draped installation behind the live band and verdant greenery embellishing chandeliers above the dance floor brought everything together, playing into the natural beauty of the venue while adding a romantic twist.

With guest experience top of mind throughout the planning process, the fun-filled nuptials were designed to feel effortless, immersive, and full of joy. “I wanted to make sure that the night flowed smoothly and was a big party,” smiles the groom, noting that the band delivered an “amazing mix of throwbacks, classic rock, and current hits.” Sloane adds: “We just really wanted to party, and I think that was achieved because everyone was on the dance floor the whole time.”
