Caroline Evelo and Shane Davis first crossed paths in front of Shane’s childhood home while the two were in junior high school. “We held hands that night. It was a big deal at the time,” Shane laughs. Caroline adds, “It’s so funny to look back at who we were then, just kids, and who we are now.” Despite their connection, the young pair didn’t maintain a romantic relationship – instead, they reconnected after their first year of college. “He reached out to me online before I got back into town and asked if we could hang out that summer,” explains Caroline.

After seven years together, the soon-to-be groom took Caroline’s father out to breakfast in order to gain his blessing; however, he got more than he bargained for – her dad’s approval and the center diamond that had been a part of the engagement rings of both her grandmother and her mother. While on vacation at the Evelo family home in Florida, Shane proudly popped the question with the sentimental stone.

Selecting their hometown of Cincinnati as the location for their vow exchange, they began to plan their nuptials with some extra help from their loved ones and esteemed planning company, Viva Bella Events. “My mom and dad were there every step of the way,” notes the bride. Giving themselves a little over a year to get everything in order, Caroline found ample time to immerse herself in the process. “I was truly blown away by the wedding world – if you can dream it, it can be done!” she exclaims.

The couple designed their ceremony with a floral motif in mind, incorporating extra touches of verdure, including succulents, into the alfresco garden area. The aisle featured simple ivory chairs on either side and a bespoke runner – by The Original Runner Company – atop the grass leading up to an arch adorned with blush and white blooms. At the altar, the two expressed their love for each other with personalized sentiments. “When we read our vows to one another, we included similar jokes, which I think shows how well we know each other and how much fun we have together,” smiles Shane.

Strolling back up the aisle, the newlyweds were greeted with cheers from their 200 guests. The new Mr. and Mrs. continued the merriment with a photo shoot displaying their affections as well as their fashionable ensembles. The groom donned a light grey suit that matched his groomsmen, though he wore a green tie while his close pals wore pink to complement the delicate color of the bridesmaid dresses. Caroline chose a stunning ivory A-line gown showcasing an illusion bodice and intricate beading.

After photographs, the wedding party joined the attendees in the charming reception space, highlighting a pastel color palette. Tablescapes were bedecked with light linens decorated with either long verdant runners or classic arrangements of blush and alabaster blossoms while small, gilt terrariums surrounded each centerpiece. Striking chandeliers featuring countless flowers were suspended overhead.

A lovely floral pattern was also painted on the bar, on various throw pillows, and on the custom dance floor – “I’d never seen anything like it!” muses the groom. A stunning compilation of blooms and greenery embellished the wall behind the drink station, where guests enjoyed themed cocktails. Attendees were also served a unique wedding cake featuring lyrics to the couple’s first dance song inscribed onto the seven tiers.

“After all of the planning and decision-making, it was surreal to see it all come together for the first time,” gushes the bride.
