Kate Wallace and Tommy Muratore’s wedding day was a decade in the making – a love story that came full circle on the shores of Cape Cod. Introduced through mutual friends while Kate was in college and Tommy was playing junior hockey, their connection endured across seasons of life, eventually leading them back to the place Kate had always known she would marry.

Tommy proposed over Labor Day Weekend at Steps Beach in Nantucket under the guise of taking a Christmas-card photo with his family. When Kate arrived to find no one else there, the happy surprise quickly revealed itself. Following the proposal, the couple walked to Galley Beach for dinner, where they were greeted by both families and close friends – and a perfect sunset. The engagement celebration continued late into the night, marking the beginning of a joyful year leading up to their wedding day.

When it came time for their nuptials, 185 guests gathered at a lovely inn in Chatham, Massachusetts, for a ceremony steeped in classic Cape Cod elegance. Kate, who grew up spending her summers on the Cape, envisioned a wedding that felt timeless, upscale, and coastal. "I always knew I wanted the quintessential Cape Cod wedding – classic, timeless, and upscale, but with a warm, beachy feel and, of course, all the blue hydrangeas," she smiles.

Navy and light blue set the color palette, chosen to echo the surrounding hydrangeas and ocean backdrop, while moodboards inspired by some of the couple’s favorite brands – Serena & Lily, Ralph Lauren, and Town & Country – guided the overall aesthetic.

One of the most meaningful moments of the day took place earlier that morning, when the bride’s mother joined her for tea and gifted her a photograph of her grandmother to hang from her bouquet. Kate wore her mother’s earrings and bracelets, carried a beaded clutch embroidered with her new initials and wedding date, and kept a handkerchief from her mother-in-law’s grandmother with her throughout the day adding to the sentimentality of the occasion.

The bride wore an Amsale gown purchased at a trunk show and the very first dress she saw and tried on. With hand-sewn bow details cascading down the back, the bridal gown embodied the same classic, timeless sensibility as the celebration itself. Tommy complemented his bride’s look in a custom navy tuxedo with black lapels, subtly weaving the color palette into black-tie attire, which also allowed him to stand out among groomsmen dressed in traditional black tuxes.

Endless blue hydrangeas defined both the ceremony and reception florals, reinforcing the quintessential Cape Cod feel of the day. Personal details were thoughtfully woven throughout the weekend. Kate and her mother created welcome bags for guests, complete with a custom logo designed for the celebration and white terry-cloth bucket hats to match. Custom matchbooks were also offered at the reception.

During the ceremony, Kate’s two brothers stood as her “men of honor,” delivering a speech that was both heartfelt and humorous – one of the many moments that made the day feel distinctly personal. The couple’s sit-down reception began at 6PM and featured signature cocktails – including a Moscow Muratore and a Spicy Kate-a-Rita – followed by a refined menu that included oven-roasted tomato and buffalo mozzarella salad, a duet of grilled filet of beef and citrus-crusted cod, and a golden vanilla wedding cake layered with lemon mousse and fresh raspberries. Tableside truffles and chocolate-dipped strawberries offered a sweet finishing touch.

Among Kate’s cherished memories were waiting at the top of the aisle with her father, the couple’s first dance, the toasts – especially her father’s – and a cake-cutting mishap that brought laughter from the crowd when an entire tier unexpectedly collapsed. The dance floor remained packed all night, closing the evening on a joyful, celebratory note. Rooted in tradition and elevated by thoughtful details, Kate and Tommy’s Cape Cod wedding was a timeless celebration of love that honored where they began and where they’re headed.

Following the wedding, Kate and Tommy honeymooned in Napa Valley for three relaxing days, where they watched their ceremony video together while surrounded by vineyards, and then the newlyweds continued on to Bora Bora for a week in an overwater bungalow as well as a private boat excursion gifted by Kate’s brother and sister-in-law, snorkeling with sharks and stingrays, lunch on a deserted island, and an afternoon spent on a sandbar in the middle of the Pacific Ocean – a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
