Many couples believe that there couldn’t be a more dreamy wedding location than the beach. While hosting your nuptials seaside has its pros and cons, you can’t argue that the sweeping views of the ocean as you say “I do” are unmatched. This was the mindset of Whitney Carillon of Très Chic Southern Weddings & Events as she set out to create a gorgeous styled shoot on a luxury hotel property in Punta Mita, Mexico. “We were inspired by the bright colors and patterns of the Mexican Otomi culture,” Whitney explains. “We wanted to showcase the beauty of Mexico if you were to host a destination wedding in this stunning location.” 

The team decided to showcase three gorgeous gowns in this shoot: a more form-fitting lace dress with a deep V-neckline, a flowing A-line ensemble with floral designs, and a low-back ball gown with a full tulle skirt. Additionally, one of the models donned a beautiful hairpiece and a grand flower crown, both displaying incredible bright blooms in yellow, orange, and pink accented with hints of verdure. “Frida Kahlo was the inspiration for both of the floral headpieces for the bride,” reveals Whitney. The bridal bouquet featured the same blossoms with less green to make the hues of the flowers truly pop.

The ceremony space set up the perfect color scheme for the shoot as a whole. Crisp white lanterns lined the aisle, created with tan mats, flanking the simple alabaster chairs facing the altar. Though completely devoid of color themselves, the chairs featured vibrant pillows displaying lively patterns of birds and flowers. Similarly, the lanterns were surrounded with red and orange petals, and the same bright blooms from the bridal ensemble – as well as branches and netting – adorned the white, four-post arch at the end of the aisle.

In the same vein, the reception area showcased bold patterns and tones. A long ivory table surrounded by simple white chairs, lanterns, and sea plants displayed a full-length runner featuring a multitude of patterns in every color of the rainbow. Charger plates matched the runner, and each place setting included a dinner menu printed on yellow paper with red calligraphy adorned with a sea star. A tall iron stand acted as the centerpiece, which held up bright, cascading florals and cream-colored candles. To top off the evening, caterers served a sweet three-tier cake decorated with fresh flowers and playful patterns.
