Royal congratulations are certainly in order! On May 20th, the Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton’s socialite big sis, Pippa, wed millionaire entrepreneur James Matthews in a traditional church ceremony in Englefield, England, followed by a reception at the Middleton family home in Buckleberry. Upon announcing their engagement, we at Inside Weddings made some predictions concerning how the lovebirds would design their vow exchange – now, as a few key details have been released to the public, we want to compare our educated guesses with photos from the special day. Though there has been speculation about the event décor, the world has learned through Instagram and other sources about a select few pertinent elements of the affair: Pippa’s gown, her accessories, her bouquet, and the wedding invitations.

The Dress
Pippa's custom gown, designed by Giles Deacon, was definitely fit for its regal wearer. The frock was a slight departure from the Alexander McQueen style with the plunging V-neckline Pippa sported while performing maid of honor duties at Kate’s wedding in 2011. With an elegantly high neckline, capped sleeves, and lace detailing throughout, the dress is quite similar to the Vera Wang design we predicted. The most notable differences between the two are the subtle height variance in the neckline and the shape of the skirt – we believed the ensemble would be more fitted throughout, but the bride selected a more dramatically flared skirt.

The silhouette that the Pippa Middleton wore is actually more similar to this elegant gown from the Fall 2017 collection by LEGENDS Romona Keveža, which features a lace sweetheart neckline, full skirt, and a detachable lace jacket with a full crew-neck collar and cap sleeves.

The Bouquet
Pippa carried a sweet nosegay of angelic white and blush blooms accented with just subtle hints of greenery. One of the bouquets we selected for her displayed a similar style, with ivory blossoms, touches of verdure, and a very slight cascade in its design; however, we missed the mark when it came to our added floral features and the boldness of the arrangement as a whole. It was a simple assortment of flowers, which rightfully drew attention to her ensemble.

The Accessories
Atop her graceful coiffure, the bride chose to wear a sparkling fern tiara to accent her church-length veil. In addition to her headpiece, Pippa showcased the same diamond drop earrings that she wore on the day of her sister Kate Middleton’s wedding to Prince William. We selected similar drop earrings that might accent a more relaxed, loose ‘do, and though her locks were indeed pinned up for her ceremony, word has it that she let her hair down during the reception.

The Invitations
The couple of honor agreed upon a simple, almost minimalist style for their invites, featuring straightforward wording and forgoing any fanciful cursive. Each card also displayed a leaf-and-vine design surrounding the letters, hinting toward the English garden motif they selected – and expanded upon – for the lavish, tented, backyard celebration at the bride’s family home.
