For over 20 years, the Pantone Color Institute has selected the "Color of the Year" – meant to be a symbol of the new year to come. The 2022 Color of the Year has been announced as Very Peri. Chosen to convey a message of new beginnings and being open to a new vision for life in the new year, the color was actually created for this special honor – the first time that a new color has been created and chosen for the Color of the Year in the history of the program.

"As we move into a world of unprecedented change, the selection of PANTONE 17-3938 Very Peri brings a novel perspective and vision of the trusted and beloved blue color family, encompassing the qualities of the blues, yet at the same time with its violet red undertone, PANTONE 17-3938 Very Peri displays a spritely, joyous attitude and dynamic presence that encourages courageous creativity and imaginative expressions," executive director Leatrice Eiseman shares of the new color and selection for this year.
