On a cold winter night, Lulu Liang and Gregory Lau met at a bar in Montreal. They dated for a year and eventually made the hard decision to go their separate ways while Lulu was in Europe for a college exchange program; however, when she returned, they bumped into each other once again at the exact same spot where they first met. “It was meant to be,” smiles Lulu.

During the summer of 2018, Greg planned an unforgettable proposal while they were taking a 10-day road trip throughout Iceland. After a private horseback ride around the mountains, they stopped by a waterfall, where Greg led Lulu to a surprise picnic for a dream proposal. To make the day even more special, they witnessed a double rainbow that afternoon and caught a glimpse of the Northern Lights that night. “It was truly an out-of-body-experience,” remembers the bride.

When planning their wedding, the now Toronto-based couple knew they wanted to have a destination wedding in Santorini, as it’s one of their absolute favorite places in the world. The bride’s best friend had recently gotten married on the island (see her real wedding here!), so she was also an invaluable resource throughout the planning process.

“The sights [of Santorini] are stunning and the island is truly unlike anywhere else in the world. We were so excited to have our favorite people in the world come and experience the magic with us,” Lulu shares.

A full weekend of events allowed attendees to experience what Lulu and Greg truly love about the Greek island. From a welcome catamaran ride to a post-wedding beach day, the nuptials were focused on their guests’ experience.

On the day of the ceremony, friends and family gathered alfresco, facing the sea and the spot for the vow exchange – colorful ground florals that “grew” up to an open arch – to witness the “I dos.” Lulu was stunning as she made her way down the aisle in a strapless A-line gown with floral embroidery to meet her handsome groom.

Since she loves “bright, happy colors,” Lulu’s vision for the day featured lively florals that seamlessly transitioned from ceremony to reception. Loved ones were seated at one long, wooden tablescape topped with centerpieces comprised primarily of roses in vibrant, warm tones, which complemented the gilt flatware and twinkling lights surrounding the dinner setting.

Guests enjoyed a family-style menu of Greek favorites before dancing the night away and witnessing a surprise firework show after the newlyweds’ first dance to “You Make It Real” by James Morrison

“Everything went perfectly and so much better than I expected,” affirms the bride of their memorable celebration surrounded by all of their friends and family in one of their favorite destinations in the world.
