After connecting at work through a mutual friend, it took some time for Paige Prine to accept a date with Mason Prater – though once she did, everything changed. “Although we are very different people in terms of our hobbies, interests, and what counts as ‘relaxing,’ we complement each other perfectly,” smiles Paige. “We challenge and push one another to be the best versions of ourselves and never settle for mediocracy in anything we do.”
Following a memorable proposal at their favorite restaurant, where they officially became boyfriend and girlfriend, and also shared many birthday, Valentine’s Day, and New Year’s celebrations, Paige and Mason began planning their December wedding weekend – complete with a rehearsal dinner at none other than their beloved eatery.
“We wanted to lean into the holiday spirit, but not the traditional green and red,” shares the bride, who instead chose to create an icy, midnight velvet décor scheme for their alfresco nuptials. “Ultimately, we wanted to create a unique experience nobody would forget… How often do you see ice-themed anything in Florida? Every piece of the wedding had an intentional purpose, even down to the flower colors in each space transitioning from light to dark as day grew into night.”
On the manicured ceremony lawn, 125 guests were seated atop white chairs on either side of sculptural blue-and-white blooms that created asymmetrical “floral waves” down the aisle and around the gazebo – “something that hadn’t been done before at the venue,” Paige notes. “It was breathtaking.”
She was radiant in a fully beaded couture gown with custom sleeves, accessorized with cherished heirlooms from both grandmothers, including a diamond bracelet from her maternal grandmother, who sadly passed unexpectedly one week before the wedding. “We were very close, so it was a special moment for me,” she shares of wearing her grandma’s jewels.
Paige walked down the aisle to an instrumental version of “Love Me Like You Do” by Ellie Goulding and carried a vanilla-toned bouquet as she met her groom for the ceremony, officiated by the bride’s godfather and uncle. “He spent a lot of time with the two of us ahead of the big day to really capture our love and story as a couple,” she adds. “Mason and I wrote our own vows, which got emotional in the best way possible.” The new Mr. and Mrs. then recessed up the aisle to a piano-and-cello rendition of “Golden Hour” by JVKE to start the revelry.
“Ultimately, we wanted to create a unique experience nobody would forget… How often do you see ice-themed anything in Florida?”
Cocktail hour unfolded beneath a grand tree on the property. “I couldn’t let this location go to waste,” says Paige of opting for the unique setting accented with light blue tones and touches of dark blue and purple. “It was absolutely stunning as the sun was setting. The cool December air, the chandeliers in the tree, and electric violinist playing created the perfect ambience.”
Guests enjoyed specialty beverages with frozen roses served from an eight-foot ice bar, then discovered their table assignments on “icicles” arranged on an illuminated escort display framed by 10-foot-tall white manzanita trees that created an enchanting walkway to the reception space.
For dinner and dancing, “We embraced the cool, icy tones, and winter magic,” says the bride. Navy velvet linens, white drapery, crystal chandeliers, and one-of-a-kind floral sculptures in dark blue, purple, and burgundy hues – with some featuring frozen elements – transformed the pergola-covered reception space for a dramatic, dark and moody vibe.
“Mason and I have been to about 15-20 weddings as a couple, and we always see a lot of the same elements and themes carried through,” she affirms. “I wanted to not only put together a beautiful wedding; I wanted to curate an experience.”
After dinner and slices of the pair’s artistic wedding cake, as well as crêpe and banana foster dessert stations, guests hit the dance floor. Paige and Mason’s first dance to “Latch” by Sam Smith concluded with fireworks filling the night sky, and the bride later changed into an all-lace and beaded jumpsuit for her second entrance complete with an espresso martini tower.
“Once the party really got going, there was a shift to the must-plays that everyone was singing to,” confirms the groom. “The disco ball dancers were a hit and really got the dance floor moving,” adds the bride. “It was a total surprise to Mason, and he loved it. We wanted it to be one big party!”
