While many wedding trends lean towards classic color palettes of white, ivory, and the occasional introduction of soft tones including blush or light blue, we're seeing more and more weddings embrace color.
One color palette that's perfect for summer, yet we don't see often, is pink and light green. To bring this vision to life, Kaylen Davidson of Sara Judith Events teamed up with a group of talented local wedding vendors to create a gorgeous wedding editorial in the striking, summery shades. "Pink and lime green felt like the perfect expression of summer: fresh, playful, and full of life," she smiles.
Selecting a historic Downtown Pittsburgh landmark as the venue, Kaylen put together a lovely ceremony and reception design that captured the liveliness of the season. "The arches, stonework, and classic details of The Pennsylvanian bring a sense of old-world romance that contrasts beautifully with the bright pink and lime green – it creates that balance of sophistication and vibrancy," Kaylen of Sara Judith Events describes.
"The combination brings together softness and vibrancy, capturing both the romance of a wedding and the energy of the season," she adds. "We wanted to give a nod to the chic garden parties where color is used unapologetically. The goal was the capture that balance of carefree energy and refined beauty."
"Pink and lime green felt like the perfect expression of summer: fresh, playful, and full of life."
Taking inspiration from the venue and the city itself, the ceremony showcased lush arrangements of primarily pink florals with accents of lime green blooms, which complemented the green cushions atop crisp white guest chairs. "The colors created such a strong visual identity for the entire shoot. It gave the design confidence and intention," Kaylen confirms. "The lime green chair pads brought a crisp, tailored contrast to the soft pink tones, adding a playful edge to the overall look, and I loved those!"
Moving indoors for the reception highlighting more vibrancy, round and rectangular tables were covered in neutral linens and surrounded by either white chairs with lime-green cushions or clear, oval-backed chairs with white cushions. Each guest's place setting continued the theme, with plates in lime green, white, and bright pink, green napkins in a subtle stripe pattern, and a trellis-border menu with headings in green and selections in pink playful text – perfect for the garden-inspired look.
Centerpieces were comprised of pink and green florals, with an emphasis on roses and hydrangeas, illuminated with candlelight emitted from pink and white taper candles in fluted glass vessels. "The florals were designed to feel lush and dimensional, with layers of soft pink roses, hydrangeas, and delicate seasonal blooms creating a romantic, garden-inspired look. Fresh green accents added contrast and movement, giving the arrangements a modern, elevated edge," Kaylen describes. "From the grand urn installations to the refined tabletop pieces, Mary Beth brought a sense of softness and intentional beauty to every design detail."
To finalize the design scheme and bring everything together, a bright pink lighting design bounced off the elegant architecture of the room and a classic wedding cake with vintage-inspired piping and decorations was surrounded by the same blooms that decorated the ceremony and reception spaces.
