For Delaney Edwards and Brandon Veliky, love bloomed close to home. “We had known of each other for years,” the bride shares. “We had a similar friend group and grew up in the same neighborhood!” Their friendship eventually turned into something more after Delaney moved back to Florida following college.

In November 2022, Brandon proposed at one of Delaney’s favorite places in the world: her family’s lake house in Lake Toxaway, North Carolina. “It was a total surprise,” she smiles, adding that they celebrated the joyful occasion with family.

When it came time to plan their wedding, the couple chose a setting that felt meaningful and familiar. “I had always pictured myself getting married at our country club – it was an easy choice,” Delaney shares of their venue in Boca Raton, Florida, which overlooks both the golf course and marina.

With guidance from her mother and “amazing wedding planner, Allison,” Delaney approached wedding planning with calm intention. “The best advice I received was to take time to enjoy the wedding-planning process,” she affirms, adding: “Don’t stress about the little things, and stay present. It’ll all work out!”

On March 16, 2024, the couple’s 150 guests gathered for a romantic evening that reflected their timeless style. The bride envisioned “a garden party” with “whimsical green and white” elements for the special day. “The venue is naturally beautiful, so I wanted to keep the colors simple,” she explains. Lush florals and flickering candles adorned the space, creating an elegant yet inviting atmosphere.

The ceremony began at six o’clock in the evening, with the bride and groom choosing to exchange private vows with one another before walking down the aisle. “Everything about the wedding was so us,” Delaney says. “The ceremony was lighthearted and the reception was filled with laughs and dancing.”

“The day is about your marriage – it’s not a family reunion and it’s not just a party... make sure it reflects who you are as a couple.”

Guests enjoyed a sit-down dinner featuring a refined menu of filet, macadamia-crusted snapper, or a vegetarian option of pesto mushroom ravioli. Cocktail hour included a raw bar and hors d’oeuvres such as lamb chops, seared tuna, carpaccio, and fig-and-goat cheese crostini, and late-night bites of hot dogs, chicken fingers, and fries kept the celebration going well into the night.

For their wedding cake, the couple selected “a simple white design with our logo and flowers,” the bride shares, tying together the personalized touches woven throughout the day. “I loved our monogram,” Delaney notes. “We included it in so many ways – the beautiful mailbox for letters, pillows, an ice sculpture… all with our monogram.”

While every detail was thoughtfully planned, the bride’s most cherished memories were “all the little moments Brandon and I shared together,” she affirms. “I highly recommend taking a few minutes to be alone. We did private vows, and after the ceremony, we got to celebrate with champagne just the two of us and soak it all in.”

“The entire night was perfect,” confirms the bride. “I will never forget the dances and speeches, and seeing my dad was a moment I’ll cherish forever.” Her best advice for other couples echoes her own experience: “The day is about your marriage – it’s not a family reunion and it’s not just a party,” she shares. “The day is so special, so make sure it reflects who you are as a couple.”

After celebrating with loved ones in Florida, the newlyweds embarked on an unforgettable honeymoon to South Africa, where they explored Cape Town, the Cape Winelands, and Kruger National Park. Delaney says, “It was a trip of a lifetime!” following the whimsical garden-inspired wedding of a lifetime.
