Virgil Abloh, a longtime creative director for Kanye West, has made history as the first African-American artistic director for luxury fashion house Louis Vuitton. He will be heading the men’s line and is scheduled to show his first collection during Paris Men's Fashion Week in June, according to The New York Times. Those in tune with the fashion world may already be aware that Virgil founded his own line, Off-White, in 2012, which he will continue to be a part of. Celebrities including Justin Bieber and new parents Kylie Jenner and Travis Scott have worn the high-end street wear.
What people may not know about Virgil is that the designer was once featured in the pages of Inside Weddings. After 10 years together, Virgil and his wife Shannon tied the knot in Chicago in 2009. The pair were high school sweethearts, and he has often named her as his muse – how romantic! While he certainly takes the lead in design for his profession, he let Shannon do the majority of the wedding planning. “I played more of a supportive role, helping to filter ideas and decide between options,” he shares with Inside Weddings. Their celebration was held at a luxury hotel in Chicago, the city where they both grew up. KingenSmith beautifully captured the event and HMR Designs created stunning centerpieces featuring the bride’s favorite color – purple.
