Christina Warthen, known as Nina to her friends, first met Eamon O’Hara at work, when he was her boss. Naturally, they did not get together at the time due to professionalism; however, that doesn’t mean he didn’t make an impression. “I really admired him and his values,” she confirms. “The way he managed his employees and ran his company was so full of dignity and it was inspiring to me and other employees.” A year later, she had moved on to a different job and they reconnected, soon starting a romantic relationship.

When it was time to propose, he knew a flashy, elaborate plan wouldn’t be right for who they are as a couple. Instead, when Nina asked him to bring her a towel for her shower, he also brought her a ring. “It was so intimate, loving, and wonderful,” the bride muses.

Though one date was picked initially, they actually switched to August 19th in order to work with Tessa Brand of Tessa Lyn Events. “I cannot say enough about her. She literally made our wedding planning so enjoyable, with little to absolutely no stress,” Nina gushes. A private home in Malibu made for a magnificent venue. The lawn had priceless sweeping views of the ocean and a tennis court provided the perfect canvas for a tented reception.

A friend and mentor of Eamon was ordained for the occasion, in order to officiate a unique vow exchange that was spiritual – without adhering to a specific denomination. The two young daughters of the groom were also included in the ceremony, with the bride sharing two letters from her to them. As a special surprise, the groom hired a plane to fly overhead with a banner reading, “Nina and Eamon love now and forever.” The bride exclaims, “It was so beautiful and so unexpected!”

Following the “I dos,” guests entered the open-air tent for dinner and dancing. The pure white backdrop – from the drapery, linens, and custom flooring – paired with ghost chairs allowed the blush and ivory centerpieces accented with cascading amaranthus, created by Butterfly Floral and Event Design, to pop. “It looked as though you were inside a life-size jewelry box,” Nina shares.
