While standing in line for a drink at a mutual friend’s birthday party, Andrew Dixon asked for Jennifer Weeks’ number after striking up a conversation. Later that week, they went on their first date and the rest is history! It wasn’t long before they took the next step in their relationship. “Andrew pretended he was taking me to dinner when he pulled the car over and walked me to the Mulholland Overlook he had decorated with candles,” shares Jenn of the scene, which had a view of their first home together. She said yes, and they celebrated with their families over dinner.

When planning their nuptials, the pair hired Tessa Brand of Tessa Lyn Events to organize everything. “We couldn’t have done anything without Tessa – she gave us the best advice,” confirms Jenn. “We had to move our wedding venue and wedding date due to Covid, and Tessa guided us through everything!”

Since they wanted everyone to feel safe coming to their wedding, they selected a luxury Bel-Air property that allowed them to bring in a mobile testing lab to provide rapid Covid tests to keep attendees and Jenn, who was diagnosed with lymphoma three months before the wedding, safe and healthy.

The vision for the day began with the color palette, which highlighted a beautiful light blue in honor of the groom’s favorite color, which is reminiscent of his upbringing in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, home of the Tar Heels. The soft hue was seen throughout the nuptials, including the bridesmaids’ elegant floor-length dresses, sashes on the outer ceremony seating, items in North Carolina-themed welcome bags, and more.

“The wedding was the perfect mixture of elegance and sophistication, but also a fun, relaxed vibe!”

Once loved ones took their seats in the intimate setting, the bride walked down the aisle in a gorgeous lace gown featuring a sweetheart neckline and carried a bouquet of creamy dahlias, garden roses, freesia, and hydrangeas wrapped in chiffon to meet her groom for the alfresco ceremony. “Having all of our closest friends and family circled around us is a memory that will last a lifetime,” confirms the bride of the ceremony. “The gorgeous setting with the swans and Swan Lake in the background, along with our very personal vows, made for a wonderful memory.”

Following the heartfelt vow exchange, friends and family enjoyed an outdoor cocktail hour and found their table assignments secured to individual bud vases filled with colorful blooms on a large display featuring a neon sign introducing “The Dixons.” “We love to have fun but are very traditional in our taste,” explains the bride. “The wedding was the perfect mixture of elegance and sophistication, but also a fun, relaxed vibe!”

Guests were seated at either round or rectangular tables strewn with neutral linens and surrounded by white oval-back chairs. Centerpieces featured high and low arrangements of mostly ivory blooms accented with fresh greenery. A 12-piece band performed throughout the dinner service and into the night, playing contemporary hits along with the wedding standards everyone loves. And since both Jenn and Andrew’s fathers are musicians, they performed a few songs together on stage with the band, including “Isn’t She Lovely” by Stevie Wonder, which was one of the highlights of the night.

Jenn and Andrew confirm their big day was everything they imagined it would be and credit their families and Tessa for making it so special. “We can’t stress the importance of having a great planner who has previously worked at the venue and has a strong list of vendors,” the bride urges. “We got so lucky with our planner, Tessa!”
