After Lisa Steiner’s best friend introduced her to Michael Mellon at a Dallas bar, the two became very well acquainted. Their one-year friendship blossomed into a relationship, and Michael soon decided to propose. Michael planned a fun weekend of Champagne tasting, dinner, friends and family, and the proposal itself. The celebration continued on a getaway trip to Mexico.

The couple spent 16 months planning an elegant wedding at a large Dallas venue. They hosted a traditional Jewish ceremony since Lisa had recently converted to Judaism. Keeping it traditional, the palette incorporated white, blush, and gold hues. Floral arrangements were kept low to give more attention to a more sophisticated decoration: “Our high element on the tables were beautiful gold candelabra, which we thought gave it a very elegant look,” the bride describes. “My favorite flowers are hydrangeas and peonies, so we knew those had to be included.”

Among these traditional aspects were also some unique features, including a confetti cannon. When the duo was first engaged, Lisa mentioned that she wanted confetti shot out onto the dance floor like a nightclub. The planners blasted “Firework” by Katy Perry as the confetti trickled down on their loved ones when the time finally came. “It was one of the most fun moments of the night! Everyone was so surprised and it gave everyone more energy to finish off the night dancing,” she says.

The dance floor also featured the same customized monogram seen on the cake and to-go boxes for slices of their wedding confection – a surprise organized by Michael. “He knew I wanted it but he said that they wouldn’t be able to do it since we asked for it last minute. But, when we walked in for our first dance, there it was! He’s so great at surprises!” To satisfy their guests’ hunger after dancing well into the night, the couple ordered an In-N-Out Burger food truck so everyone could enjoy some late-night bites. Lisa and Michael’s last dance was filled with laughter and talk of their special day.

Wedding planning is undoubtedly stressful for many couples, but Lisa shares the importance of teamwork and enjoying each moment of the process. “I would say planning it is the best part. We made every decision together and it helped us to get super excited about everything!”
