See Pop Artist Kylie Hughes' Travel-Themed Engagement Party

Pop singer Kylie Hughes is undoubtedly busy these days. With a newly released album and planning a dream wedding for her and fiancé Patrick Barraza, it’s likely a hectic, yet exciting, time in her life. Desiring to properly mark this joyful stage, the pair elected to host a party for family and friends to celebrate their impending 2018 nuptials. “Pat had also just shot (directed/filmed) my ‘Take Me Anywhere’ music video, so we made that the party theme,” divulges the bride-to-be. “Travel is one of our touchstones as a couple – we whisked our guests away with different décor, crafted cocktails, and food from all over the world.”
As a native of Malibu in Los Angeles County, Kylie selected a location in her California hometown quite easily, as she is very familiar with the spaces offered in the area. “Our venue was brand new and so much more exotic than what you typically find here,” she says. Chateau de Grace offers a distinctly European feel with which the pair instantly fell in love. The event, which was planned by Ampersand Entertainment, was held on the lawn, which followed a “progressive dinner” theme taking attendees from the horse stables of the Southern United States to a quaint French lily pond. Small lounge vignettes offered comfortable views of the natural setting and heat lamps provided warmth well into the night.
Long wooden tables with patterned runners featured centerpieces comprised of travel paraphernalia, including small airplanes, timepieces, books, and lush floral clusters inside of vintage suitcases. Smaller round tables displayed burgundy linens with arrangements made up of candles, as well as unique blossoms and greenery. “If I could describe our venue in any way, I’d say ‘timelessly romantic,’” muses Kylie. The evening was filled with laughter, support, and delicious cuisine from different portions of the globe. Revelers enjoyed the lively soirée for hours, even getting an impromptu show from the bride – when the band pulled her onstage to sing one of her songs – and the groom – who “jokingly felt upstaged and probably a little buzzed, so he jumped on stage and sang Kellis’ ‘Milkshake’ acapella,” Kylie laughs.
When attendees thought it was time to say goodnight, the couple of honor had one last adventure for those who felt up for more fun. “After the band wound down and guests trickled out to the valet, the late-night partygoers were transported one last time to a ‘Casablanca’ Moroccan hookah lounge for midnight treats and dancing,” explains Kylie. “It was my favorite part of the night!”Engagement party photos by Yvette Roman Photography
