12 Upbeat Songs for Your First Dance

For when you and your beloved want to go beyond the ballad.

It makes sense why the majority of couples choose a slow song for their first dance – a love ballad just feels like the natural choice, not to mention the dancing skills required are typically much simpler. However, for some duos a slow first dance song just doesn’t match with their personalities. Having a little more fun during your first dance doesn’t make it any less romantic, as showcased in the dozen upbeat tunes included in the playlist below. While a fully choreographed routine isn’t required, it is worth keeping in mind that you will likely need to practice a little more than those newlyweds who choose to sway back and forth.
